Finally...stable internet access again.  Couldn't figure out why my laptop can't connect to the supposedly wireless DSL modem in the house, so I plunked down $35 for a 50 ft. ethernet cable.  Who knew they were still so expensive?

Started my prep course today.  4 hours of class time daily, plus recommended 5-8 hours of studying time afterwards per day.  Homework assignments additional.  All weekends included.  A detailed schedule has been planned out for us already up until the day of the actual exam.  Eek.  This is why it's entirely too anti-climatic when people congratulated me on graduation.

At least the weather is nice here.

We plunked down the money to get me a car - my first car ever, you can say.  The key to every U.S. teenager's freedom is his/her own vehicle...for which I'd been saving up since before I was 16 (the minimum age for a driver's license in this state) but never got, until now.  Much later, when I've way passed my teens.  It doesn't feel entirely "mine," though, since I didn't pay for it with my own money.  But I get to drive it.

Odd how after years and years without owning a car, I'm so accustomed to not having one that I am not taking it out for spins as much as I'd thought I would.  I like being chauffeured around.  Plus, the gas prices are still high enough to make car afficionados walk.

Did I mention what kind of car?  It is a 2006 Toyota Corolla LE in silver.  We've had our other Corolla for 11 years now without any problems.  That is the sign of a good, practical, safe, reliable car, and that was what I wanted...no fancy, expensive luxury cars with crappy mileage.

I toyed with the idea of getting a Yaris, which is just adorable.  Great mileage.  But manual roller windows are standard, and they're hard to come by.

Except, this liberal tree-hugger really really wanted a Prius, with a 60 city/51 highway mileage, but those are apparently in hot demand and have 2-3 months waiting periods.  Not likely to be seen in the south but they are all over the place on the west coast.  Aside from satisfying my environment-friendly little heart, the big geek in me loves the interior: a screen monitoring the batteries and electrical components of the Prius, plus a non-conventional plastic cartridge key that is inserted, and a power button to start the whole thing like a computer.  It is the coolest thing I've ever seen in  car, and I almost had to wipe the drool off of the 2004 used Prius I was test-driving.

Wow.  I never thought I'd talk this much about cars.

Yes, I made it out alive.  Not before enduring one paper, four finals, almost two weeks of packing up my entire possession, tossing things in the trash, putting things on Craigslist, showing furniture, moving furniture, various trips to FedEx, cleaning, and leaving my apartment for good.  Didn't walk at my graduation.  Didn't even really have time to spend with friends, except those who helped me move.

That is a very condensed version.  I HATE moving.  It's good to finally get out of a god-forsaken place, but unpacking is almost as bad.

Why do I need five black tank tops or 50 bottles of lotion?

My friend N replies, "Because you just do."  Ah, a kindred soul.

My dad laughs and replies, "Do you think I know?"  This, from a man with hundreds of ties.  I swear, it's in my genes.  We both have more things than we know what to do with, and we would rather move than toss out things that can still be used.

My house looks like a bomb went off in here - packing materials, bubble wrap, books, clothes, boxes, you name it.  They need to be purged or rearranged pronto as I start an intensive two-month prep course next week.  They recommend four to six hours of study time in addition to the five hours of classes everyday.  Most weekends included.

Exciting, eh?  It never seems to end.

One more to go.  I'm ready to keel over.

Sorry for the lack of reply to comments, but outside of announcing the fact I'm still alive, I just don't have the brain power to process thoughts other than the subjects of my tests...

Need major detox for my skin.
